The third stage of the Eurochallenge for the Open Skiff Class has successfully concluded in the picturesque town of Balatonmáriafürdő, Hungary. This exciting event, held from 31.05 to 02.06, was the third in a series of four stages, with the previous stages taking place in Arco, Italy, and Sopot, Poland. As the last major competition before the World Championships in July, also to be held in Arco, this event was a critical test for all participating sailors.

Over the course of three days, competitors faced a variety of challenging conditions on Lake Balaton. The event featured both light and strong winds, testing the skills and adaptability of the young sailors. Despite the varying weather, the scenic backdrop of Lake Balaton provided a stunning setting for the races.

In the U12 category, Samuele Piantoni from Italy demonstrated exceptional talent and perseverance, securing the top spot in a highly competitive field. The U15 category saw Sviastoslav Yasnolobov from Ukraine rise to the occasion, showcasing advanced techniques and strategic prowess. Meanwhile, in the U17 category, Hubert Staroń from Poland emerged victorious, all proving their readiness for the upcoming World Championships.

The success of the Balatonmáriafürdő stage underscores the growing popularity and competitive spirit of the Open Skiff Class with 66 competitors from 7 countries competing. The event not only highlighted the skills of individual sailors but also fostered a sense of community and sportsmanship among participants from various countries.

The Open Skiff Class Eurochallenge has once again proven to be a dynamic and engaging series, pushing young sailors to their limits and celebrating the spirit of competitive sailing. The Balatonmáriafürdő stage will be remembered not only for its challenging conditions and beautiful setting but also for the remarkable performances that have paved the way for an exhilarating World Championship event in July.
